Personality: Sonic’s personality can be pretty much summed up in one simple word: unflappable. Sonic’s the odd ball of all the franchise as he’s the guy who doesn’t seem to be affected by the world around him, or at the very least he doesn’t outwardly show it. Once he’s on the run, he rarely lets anything or anyone get in his way. However, that’s also his biggest flaw: the hedgehog doesn’t think at times, just going with what he thinks is right. The events of Sonic Lost World showed the results of that and it wasn’t pretty.
That game also shows what happens when things spiral out of control and he has no other way to fix it: he does stupid things and just plummets into defeat - he opts to have Eggman help him and Tails instead of trusting Tails on doing everything despite the fox’s protests that he can do this, gets argumentative with his friend at times and spirals into depression as Amy, Knuckles and Eggman are seemingly killed and Tails is apparently turned into a cyborg. Though he’ll gladly bounce back after things are fixed, it’s hard to say if the hedgehog is humbled by the experience.
Another interesting thing about Sonic is that, despite his unflappable attitude and “I’m too cool” way of thinking, he does have a much softer side. He’s shown to enjoy the beauty of nature and is quite cheesed off when it gets wrecked in some way. As well, he also has a comforting side, willing to help others who are down and out with their problems in some way, going the extra mile to see another smile from them. As well, Sonic has shown that he has a large tolerance for people and their actions. While he isn’t one to fully trust Dr. Eggman, he’s willing to have his aid when the time calls for it. As well, he’s been shown to forgive people who have betrayed him, though it’s less for evil means and more that their intentions were well-meaning in the end, such as Merlina’s Face-Heel Turn due to the fact that she just wanted Camelot to live forever. As well, he also has an amazing wellspring of willpower, refusing to give up for a second. He might have all the chips stacked against him, but he will keep going, no matter what.
Strengths: Unflappable attitude, amazing willpower, compassionate
Weaknesses: Doesn’t think things through, incredibly impulsive
Possessions: Besides his trademark shoes, he still has the talking sword Caliburn. A gentleman-like talking blade, it’s not above mocking people he believes is below him, as Sonic can attest to. As well, it’s also the powerful blade Excalibur, a mystical blade that is said that can cut through anything. When Caliburn turns into Excalibur, Sonic transforms into Excalibur Sonic, granting him golden armor and flight (but no invulnerability).
It also means that Sonic’s the once and future king, Arthur. SPOILERS!

Alright, I'm kind of in a bind here, folks. I need to get back to Camelot ASAP. Mostly to make sure the place is still in one piece so I can get home.
Man, Amy's gonna kill me, I just know it...
Third Person: Any pony passing by the diamond mines would find a very interesting sight - the sight of a young blue-scaled dragon sitting on top of the Diamond Dogs, idly nibbling on gems while a gold plated sword hovered nearby, looking quite annoyed.
"Sir Sonic, really, eating gems? I thought you were more dignified than that?" The sword (yes, sword) said.
"Hey, not my fault I suddenly got a taste for 'em!" Sonic protested. "No taste at all here..." Gulping down the gem, he hopped off of the Diamond Dogs and looked them over. "Alright, pups, I got places to be! I don’t wanna find out that you’ve been harassing anymore ponies… though, why you’re harassing ponies is beyond me.” In response, the dogs let out a collective groan of pain. “I’ll take that as a ‘yes’.” Grabbing the sword, he laid it over his shoulder and gave a brief parting salute before racing off, the wake of his speed causing the poor creatures to get scattered.
